Roger W. Thomas
Roger W. Thomas is a Senior Counsel at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, resident in the New York office. He is engaged in the general practice of law, with particular emphasis on international financial matters. While a partner at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, Mr. Thomas has been responsible for providing advice and assistance to numerous foreign governments, state-owned enterprises and private sector companies, principally in Latin America.
Beginning in 1983, he has had a principal responsibility for the firm’s work in sovereign and private sector debt restructuring and has had particular charge of the firm’s work for Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic and Peru. He has also participated actively in the firm’s practice involving international financial transactions including debt and equity issues, and project finance.
Mr. Thomas received an LL.M. degree in Comparative Law in 1964 and an LL.B. degree in 1963, both from New York University School of Law, and an undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire. He also attended the Free University of Berlin and the University of Chile. He is a member of the Bar in New York.
