Tulio Vera

Tulio P. Vera is a Portfolio Manager, Financial Advisor and Economist specializing in Emerging Markets (EM). He is also a co-owner in Nolita Wine Merchants, a global fine wine and spirits store in downtown Manhattan.

Most recently, Tulio was a Managing Director and the Chief Global Investment Strategist for the J.P. Morgan Latin America Private Bank. He held this position from March of 2014 to May 2016. He was responsible for multi-asset investment strategy for client portfolios in global equities, fixed income, and alternatives.

Previously he was a Portfolio Manager in global Emerging Markets at the hedge fund Millennium Management from 2012 to 2014, and a partner and Chief Investment Strategist at Bladex Asset Management (BAM), an EM macro hedge fund from 2008 to 2012.

From 1999 to 2008, Tulio was the Chief EM Macro Strategist for Merrill Lynch. In this capacity, he was responsible for global EM research and investment strategy, and macroeconomic research for Latin America and Emerging Europe.

From 1997 to 1999, Tulio ran global EM research for ABN-AMRO. From 1994 to 1997, he was in charge of economic and market strategy research for Latin America at Bear Stearns. Prior to that, he was a Financial Officer at the International Finance Corporation – the private sector arm of The World Bank in Washington, D.C. – and a senior sovereign analyst at Moody’s in New York.

Tulio is an advisor to NESsT (Nonprofit Enterprise and Self-Sustainability Team) and previously sat on the board of the North American-Chilean Chamber of Commerce (NACCC).

Tulio was born in Santiago, Chile, and lives in Manhattan. He received a BA in architecture from the University of Maryland and has a Master’s degree (and is ABD) in International Finance and Monetary Economics from New York University.
