Pedro Rosso

Pedro Pablo Rosso Rosso, medical surgeon, studied at the Faculty of Medicine at the Catholic University, where he specialized in pediatrics.

He did his Postdoctoral training at Cornell University Medical School (1970-1973). Between 1973 and 1984 he held various academic appointments at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York including the position of Associate Director of the Institute of Human Nutrition (1981-1984).

In 1984 he returned to Santiago and joined the Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University. From 1991 to 2000 he was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and from 2000 to 2010, President of the Catholic University.

Currently he is President of the Organization of Latin American and Caribbean Catholic Universities.

He is a recipient of the following awards: Future Leader Award, National Science Foundation; Agnes Higgins Award, granted by the March of Dimes/Birth Defect Foundation; Mc Collum Award, granted by the American Institute of Nutrition; and the Special Award of the American College of Nutrition.

Dr. Rosso is Member of the Chilean Academy of Medicine and in 2008 he was knighted (Cavaliere) by the Italian Government.
