Friends Circle: Leading The Way Scholarship Program

November 2018

On November 28th, a new session of Friends Circle of the Leading The Way Program was held at Campus Oriente UC. The first three cohorts of LTWayers participated this time, along with the members of the fourth generation that will travel to Drexel University, PA, in January 2019. Three American exchange students were invited to join the event, which counted with the presence of Sava Thomas, president of Friends UC, and Roger Thomas, member of the Board of Friends UC.

The Friends Circle is a relaxed instance of conversation in English, in which the former LTWers meet the new cohort and share the experience of studying abroad. The American exchange students also expressed what it has been like for them to study and live in Chile. The challenges that arise when discovering a new culture were discussed.

This meeting accurately represents the Leading The Way Program spirit, which promotes opportunities for participants to practice and improve their English language skills. Students also learn about the US culture and the importance of managing and valuing the experience of living in a globalized world.
