Annual meeting of the Board of Directors of Friends of Catholic University in Chile, Inc. took place in October in New York

This year´s meeting of the Board of Directors of Friends of Catholic University in Chile, Inc. (Friends-UC) took place on October 29 and 30, 2015 in New York City. In addition to the Board, the meeting was attended by Dr. Ignacio Sanchez, President of the Catholic University. At the meeting President Sánchez presented a report about the current state of the Catholic University, its Development Program for the years 2015-2020 and the proposed free education legislation introduced by the government.

At the meeting, the programs which have received funding from Friends-UC where carefully  reviewed as well as those new projects which the University brought to the Board’s consideration.

Friends-UC Board Members Tim Kingston, Enrique Jocelyn-Holt, Pedro Rosso, Guillermo Marshall, Friends President Sava Thomas, Catholic University President Ignacio Sanchez, Rina Alcalay, Roger Thomas, Tulio Vera and Patricio Donoso.

In connection with the Board meeting, Friends-UC organized a meeting with alumni from the Catholic University who are currently pursuing postgraduate studies in the United States to discuss current challenges and opportunities for the University and its graduates in different areas.

President Sanchez commented: “This proved a very interesting meeting that allowed us to get first hand impressions from Master and PhD students about the status of the Catholic University on an international scale, as well as the opportunities of return and employment for young Chilean academics. This type of encounter allows us to look ahead and develop our internationalization goals”.
